Dr. Kan Tai-keung is a world-renowned designer and artist, highly skilled in ink painting. He began his career in art and design in 1967 and is one of the pioneers of Hong Kong Creative Industry

His highly acclaimed works and awards brought him early prominence. Important awards include: International Art Competition, Los Angeles; Mercury Award and Galaxy Awards, New York; 1st International Computer Art Biennale in Rzeszów, Poland. Dr. Kan was the first designer elected as one of Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Personsin 1979; the only designer to receive the Urban Council Design Grand Award in 1984; and was the first Chinese to be included in Who’s Who in Graphic Design of Switzerland in 1995. He was conferred Honour of Bronze Bauhinia Star in 1999. In 2010, he was commended officially by receiving the Honour of Silver Bauhinia Star. Dr. Kan is also actively involved in educating and promoting the art and design profession. He was the Dean of Shantou University Cheung Kong Art and Design School, guest professor at numerous universities including China Central Institute of Fine Arts and Tsing Hua University. He is a member and Regional President of China, Alliance Gaphique Internationale, an Advisor of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, and Honorary Advisor of Hong Kong Museum of Art. In 2005, Dr. Kan was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Design in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
